I hope they do well in time.

km: That is a dilemma, isn't it? Since (in most cases) human beings are the cause of so much destruction, I suppose we ought to try to rescue things. My first reaction on reading this: "so banyan trees die?".

Some friends have been trying to find ways to conserve the main trunk. I’m not sure if it’s an effort worth making.

I sometimes think about this point in the larger context of conservation movements. Yes, the tiger/bluefin tuna/coral reefs must be saved, but really, just who are we kidding?kmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16040339235134145847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28464200.post-71590069028165994332010-07-24T13:20:05.465+05:302010-07-24T13:20:05.465+05:30Oh, I'm so sorry- I'd seen that beautiful ...Oh, I'm so sorry- I'd seen that beautiful banyan on my single visit to Rishi Valley. I guess trees are far more sensitive than they are commonly thought to be.
As for 'my' tree, I was waiting for my son to photograph it with his camera, which has done more justice to it than mine possibly could have.dipalihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01070862196307376073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28464200.post-3549859712819358732010-07-24T11:01:01.814+05:302010-07-24T11:01:01.814+05:30Beautiful. Ranasaheb told us that some people had come to check it, and said that because all of us sat around it so much, its ecological balance was disturbed, and pests were eating it. We tried for a while to keep people away, but it didn't work of course. And the tree still seems fine. I hope the banyan tree spreads far.Bannohttp://batulm.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
