Black Currant ice cream

The first time I had black currant ice cream was at Dollops. Ice cream shop down the road, exotic purple ice cream and dark bits of fruit on the tongue, like the grape peels on those stick ice creams on Marina beach.

Later, a Dollops wheel at another ice cream parlour. You spun the wheel for ice cream, sauce, topping and one other thing - I forget what. Weird combinations. Always tried hard to avoid the peanuts and cashew and manage the black currant and chocolate syrup.

Why don't they make black currant ice lollies? I'd like a puple tongue instead of an orange one for a change.

How about a kalakhatta lolly made at home? Purple tongue guaranteed.Or khus khus lolly- a witch's green tongue is what you will get.

Do what Dhanno and her cousin do. Put black currant sherbet in a glass, add water, put in a spoon or some such handle. Freeze. Purple tongue guaranteed.

Oh you did not just do this. Dammit, now I want their rum-n-raisin, and green devil, and chocolate whirl icecreams.

Also, cup or cone. Fourth option.

i routinely have roohafza ice cubesYou know, I am trying hard to think of a situation that calls for someone to routinely consume that sickeningly sweet syrup. :)

km: roohafza in the heat is very tolerable. Pretty decent in fact.

Last year in Turkey I was obsessed with this Mulberry flavoured ice cream. ANd this post has me thinking of that now...

Szer: Been to the awesome Berthillon in Paris? That has probably the best ice cream flavors in the entire solar system. (But I've made a note of your Turkish recommendation....)

Returning your greeting.

Ice lollies always gave me instant diarrhea. I would stand around morosely chewing on Melody toffees while my classmates nonchalantly sucked down colourful slush.

??!: Fig and Honey! Yes! I want!!!!

km: :D 43degrees centigrade in the shade for two weeks running?

szer: you have photo of this famous mulberry icecream? come on - torture us.

jp: welcome, welcome. did that make them lose their appetite?

Melody toffees! Where's Brown Magic? That's your cue to start blogging again, girl.

Ooh, how synchronicitous is that? (Not much. You posted 2 days ago.) Only a second ago I was weighing the pros and cons of blackcurrant & cinnamon tea versus green tea detox. Blackcurrant! Only slightly weirder than Zante currant!

If it all you fancy gelato and find yourself in Umbria (Tuscan border, to be more less vague), try Gelateria Creperia Ghignoni. Possibly the best in the world.
