Revolution 09.09.09

Forget everything else about this day - you know what makes it memorable?

The release of The Beatles' Mono Box Set. It makes me apple green with envy, to think of all the people who can (and will) order it off Amazon (let's not talk 'afford' here, okay? I can give up plenty to be able to 'afford' this. I'm fanatical like that).

So now you know what's #3 on my wishlist.

If "afford" isn't the issue, you can order it off Amazon too, you know. I've done it lots of times. If you don't trust your local postal service, use their express delivery (which is DHL, or used to be).

Wow - expensive. Though that said, totally worth it - if I was still working I probably would have ordered it. I'm not sure about Amazon shipping charges in India, but shouldn't be THAT much.

Also - what's item #1 on the wish list?

Come on, $250 for 13 albums is still cheaper than what we have spent individually on each album.

At just 15 bucks a pop, I have spent at least 200 dollars on individual album CDs. Then there were the LPs, the cassettes, the DVDs, the video tapes, the books, the posters, the t-shirts...HOLY CRAP - I MADE THIS BAND RICH!

Rahul: wait - Amazon delivers in India? I thought they didn't.

Szer: Come on - like km says...

km: I know - we all have, I guess. :D But I don't care. Some day I will do Beatlemania post.

sb -- you can ship books, music, DVDs to India. Not hardware etc. It's pretty reliable. Once I thought a shipment was lost, and when I reported it, Amazon immediately sent another (at no charge) -- and then the first one arrived. So they asked me to send the second one back and refunded my shipping costs. Of course, YMMV.

@Space Bar: No need to get it off Amazon at all. It will available at your friendly, neighborhood Landmark store by the end of this month. :D

p.s. Will mail you with some surprising stats/figures about Amazon's sales in India.

extempore: the mono box set? I thought that was a limited edition that is already sold out.

But if it is available in Landmark it will probably be much cheaper than in the US or UK, too.

@Rahul: There are just a few coming in to Landmark as well. The mono box set is 8999 (if memory serves me correctly) and the stereo box set which is coming out this month as well is about 6995 - again if memory serves me correctly.

Any particular reason you'd favour the mono set?

It's a great package. But I wish they'd include a lefty bass guitar with it.

It is pivotal that we all purchase both the mono and the stereo set. John Lennon was only #7 in the Forbes list of top earning dead celebrities last year and poor George Harrison did not even make the top ten. Let's help them both get back in the top five. And let's face it, Ringo and Paul aren't long for this earth, either. Hopefully, next year, the Beatles collection will be available on itunes so we can repurchase their works one more time (LPs, cassettes, CDs, reissues, compilations, rereleases, mp3s...).

tpg: :D yes, poor lennon. he has to rehabilitated.
