Via Ludwig, the Ramanujan essay that has saffron knickers in a twist in Delhi University.
A propos of which, Krish Ashok's excellent post some time ago, titled the Ramayanapedia.

'She's talking to that mirror again, farther?' says Misst Craddock. Father Cradock turns round slowly from the book he is eating and explains that it is just a face she is going through and they're all the same at that age.

Somehow, I suspect that the phrase "saffron knickers in a twist" is also going to get saffron knickers in a twist.
Oh, those twisted folks...
cat: heh!
and about your comment on falsie's post about ravana/sita - you've seen opera jawa? i've been dying to see it ever since i saw those gorgeous stills. tell more!
Loved Ramanujan's essay and Ramayanpedia. The saffron guys are nuts. There are so very many ways of looking at the world. Bah.
Yeah, I did watch it. The choreography is pretty impressive, but it's the kind of movie that's better experienced through stills than through viewing it. The visual sumptuousness is just a bit much, and gets in the way of narrative. Worth watching just for a few outstanding sequences though - for instance, the ones in which Sita is tempted by the thought of straying, or the sacrifice at the end. I hope the Hindu fundamentalists don't get to this one - the movie ends with Rama slaying both Ravan and Sita in a fit of jealousy.
