Paternity Leave

In the context of this post see this one on Crooked Timber arguing for paid paternity leave.

In India, as far as I know, the only place that has a policy of two-week paid paternity leave is NDTV. This was way back in the late 90's even, with plans for a cr
èche at the workplace. Wish there were more places like that.

Very well written piece on what seems to be a very sensible proposition.

I got 2 weeks paternity leave, which I could choose to take any time during the first six months. I imagine those are government rules. In addition, I had a lot of accumulated earned leave, and I can work from home, so it worked out. These days, those who can work from home should be allowed to do so...

dipali: yes, and the comments at CT are also a pleasure to read.

tmm/rahul: good to know that.

rahul: though i'm not sure how the 'paid' part of it will work when you're self-employed. suddenly you have no income of any kind, let alone 'leave'.
